Dissenting leaders live in illusions and delusions

There is one way of activating senior leaders of Congress. The adrenaline will start flowing in them. There will be a mad rush to fill in the vacuum if Rahul and Gandhi family quit the scene. But it will not happen. Rahul is firm to preserve, protect the values of Congress.

Even if we assume a vacuum, will it bring unity within Congress? It will not certainly help. There will be an internecine war among various group leaders to occupy the top position. The chieftains, regional warlords waiting outside the ring, will try to fish in troubled waters.

We will have a surplus of PM aspirants, candidates at our disposal. The richness and the calibre of these leaders will be glaring when BJP makes inroads with its riches. A new formula may come up with one PM and 5 DyPMs following the example provided by Andhra Pradesh now.

If they manage to form a government at the centre, can their top leaders settle disputes between and within groups? They will not have control over other groups forming part of the government. There will be deals and counter deals for the settlement of disputes.

Should we call them leaders? They may represent and protect the interest of their party or group within or their personal interest and political survival. They can, at best, be called agents and brokers. They turn out to be double dealers to leave everyone in trouble.

Some of these leaders are called Chanakya. What did these Chanakyas achieve in their lifetime? Pawar remained a ‘powerful’ leader for three decades and could not secure a win for his party in his region. He will ever remain a Chanakya. No one should trust a king who is self-centred.

History does not teach lessons to our group leaders within Congress. They love to live in illusions and delusions; dream about becoming Alexander the Great. They are not even Chanakyas to control their troops and territory. They pollute the atmosphere with marches and morchas.
