The Octopus of Fascism and poor response mechanism

Nascent democracy should be made ‘Modi-proof’

The octopus of Modi, Shah, RSS is in a tearing hurry to spread their tentacles and gobble up still ignorant individuals, groups, parties and the country. The opposition search for a more aggressive version of an authoritarian to neutralise them with the same tricks, tactics.

It is more like creating a vaccine from the virus to fight it out. But before we could complete our research the strain changes. The opposition with its limited resources could have opted for a proper response mechanism to prevent and protect themselves from the virus.

Neither patience nor impatience is going to help. People went on the wrong track to believe Modi & Co in 2014. He exploited the weakness and impatience of people to secure a 5-year term and extracted an extension in 2019 misusing all his powers. Now people are suffering.

We tend to develop strong likes and dislikes for film heroes. In politics, you are to be realistic. Hero worship is not going to pay in the long run. Modi is a typical example. Congress and the opposition, unfortunately, could not present a strong challenger to Modi nationally.

In our hurry, we jump to conclusions and love at the first sight. We are heartbroken and land up with divorces. Presently we need counselling not only before marriage but even before building relationships. We are neither understanding our partners nor our leaders.

The problem lies with individualism and authoritarianism. It is a toxic concoction of self-imposed supremacy, narcissistic behaviour. No one is supreme and no one knows the complete solution for all problems and issues. It needs a collective effort and a conducive atmosphere.

The present configuration of India with a wide variety of cultures, languages, social and economic disparities, is still a nascent democracy suffering from the pangs of all kinds of epidemics and pandemics. The system is yet to get vaccinated and made ‘Modi-proof’.

The poor response mechanism of opposition

Modi, Shah, BJP, RSS and all their wings, groups use double-edged swords. If they make risky manoeuvres they will hurt themselves. It perforates the perception among people. Still, if they are indulging in it, it shows their nervousness, desperation and fear of losing the war.

They are aware that the majority of Indians are not communal. The divisive, communal base they created is not growing anymore. Instead, it is declining overall, more due to Modi’s failures and misadventures. So their tactics are turning more overtly aggressive and unethical.

Their awkward and arrogant aggression started with article 370, Ram Mandir,  CAA and the suppression of that agitation. It continued with farmers’ issues, snatching powers of the Delhi government. Now immediately after the loss in Bengal, they continue fighting for every inch.

They use all avenues available against every possible weak link in the opposition to strengthen their position. They are very selective, calculative about their targets and do not bother to touch their B teams in Andhra, Odisha, Telangana. They choked AAP when it wagged its tail.

The same tactics were used in Puducherry for 5 years by a governor beating their pulp out. But Congress leaders could not sense it. It is futile to observe fast and satyagraha against the heartless and ruthless Modi regime who do not bother about any values, rules, scruples.

There is no use waiting or looking for the nod, endorsements, responses of other opposition parties. Congress should take the lead. They are to organise themselves. They need a vibrant organisation to carry out the task. It should not be just on paper but should be on the ground.

Congress need not wait for organisational elections for evolving strategies to expose and/ or legally fight all those who directly and indirectly help all the unethical, illegal, destructive moves of the fascist forces. That may cover all including media, authorities, courts.

The devils are using artful tricks quoting scripture; talking about positivity and Mukti to change perception; misinterpreting immoral acts of Modi regime to nullify the negative image that is gaining ground. The present response mechanism of the opposition is totally inadequate.
