Aiding political change from public platforms

I mentioned in my last blog ‘Is India awaiting a Messiah?’ that instead of waiting for a Messiah people should make their contributions in their own way to lighten the burden of the people.

I am here analyzing briefly the scope and also the need for independent individuals or groups to utilize the public platforms more purposefully in the current political scenario.

Let us look into some of the difficulties and lacunas for individuals to make effective contributions both online and offline.

  • Modi government is doing the whole-time job of the ruthless proliferation of lies, propaganda, and disinformation.
  • They have deployed all resources available including money, committed cadres, government machinery in war mode. This is the only way they can survive or prolong their hold.
  • Most of the media has become a part of their troop and are distorting, mutilating, planting stories in collusion with the Modi government.
  • Independent individuals without organizational or institutional support are insignificant before the might of the government and massiveness of the task to push any major change.
  • Further independent voices are invariably unorganized thoughts, opinion with inbuilt imperfections, deficiencies.
  • Even contributions of members, activists, or even leaders of opposition parties are more often independent opinions than cogent presentations to neutralize the work of the ‘Goebbels’.
  • Countering the lies and propaganda of BJP has to be on the point-blank range cutting out frills and escape routes. The response has to be comprehensive and complete to combat and destroy its strategy and limit the damage.
  • While this will not change the mind, tactics, or no holds barred approach of BJP, it will make their task difficult.
  • What is more pertinent is that such aggressive and effective counter efforts may result in spreading truth and facts to the people exposing lies of the Modi government.

Is it possible in the independent public domain?

  • The pursuit of Truth is not difficult but it becomes so when political analysts and media reporters, journalists as messengers and conveyors of news and views, have personal agendas, preconceived notions, and real/ perceived threats and fear.
  • Rahul talks fearlessly, more or less a lonely voice speaking the truth. The present set of Congress TV panelists are also doing a good job in coordination with others to demolish the contentions of BJP spokespersons and their supporters.
  • Many of the individuals or groups do have and also display these abilities from the public platform. They may even do a better job as public sources and resources are so vast and widespread. But they lack discipline, maneuverability that is available when representing an organization.
  • A public platform with so many independent agonized, assertive, nonconformist, and often uncontrolled voices reverberating from all sides, there is too much clutter, garbage, noise to effectively pin down the government, and institutions. This provides the government and others to wriggle out of their own misdeeds and failures by diverting attention pointing out discrepancies among the opposition forces and voices.
  • It is necessary to understand the near-total wastage of time and energies by individuals from the public platforms if one considers that their effort has not changed the perception of people much, while some tweaks and strategies may alter that scenario.
  • We do have unlimited talents in the public domain to organize thoughts, information, ideas, and to objectively analyze, exchange views, and present more or less error-free conclusions.
  • What is important is, the content should have the quality to demolish lies and propaganda irretrievably. Such content providers will contribute and truly bring about an awakening in society, apart from mass leaders in any field including politics.
  • It is not that everyone is to indulge in producing quality content. Few are capable of doing it independently. Some may form a team or group to perfect it. Others may carry them to people at large. People do yearn for the right contents and they will make it viral.
  • It may be through any mode, say texting messages, writing posts, articles, presenting visual contents, news through various channels or simply serving as carriers of these contents.
  • Here the role of last-mile carriers of the message to the people is very important. This can be done online or offline and also through opinion-makers, stormtroopers, political activists, or anyone who can do the job to ensure that message reaches people directly or through their local leaders or representatives.
  • It is not an easy task but this is the biggest failure in the present circumstances as non-cadre-based parties are not working on the ground with people. Democracy has created more leaders but everyone wants to be a leader but not to work as a cadre. It is also a failure of the political leadership of Congress and other opposition parties.
  • There is a dire need to draw out from public platforms, groups of people forming a unifying force at all levels whether as individuals or party activists coordinating with each other, forcing the government and other institutions to change and bringing out the reality to the people.
  • It should be borne in mind that the only opposition voice is represented by Rahul despite all the organizational weaknesses of INC. The other opposition parties have lost their relevance by their silences. They are just exploring ways to bargain for higher shares from INC for their ‘silent contributions’.
  • It is presently so much loaded against INC with BJP’s money and media power and frenemies galore in opposition, the opposition voices from independent platforms are so much required to contribute if one wants to see the end of fascist forces.

Some points to note.

  • It is a war of power and perception. We should have the right weapons. It is not yet a fully fascist state. Some remnants of the democratic structure are still there. BJP is misusing power in every way possible. Congress does not have it. They are to correct the perception of the people as well as their organization.
  • Congress has to restructure its own organization into a vibrant and combative unit throughout the country on an urgent footing. They should draw more from the talents and support available for the opposition in public platforms.
  • If that does not happen, we may have to leave it to fate and destiny. There will be no ‘Mahabharata’ war. There will be no ‘Bharatiyata’ (Indianness) left. BJP may continue to rule. We have to become ‘Super-Atma’ and ‘Paramatma’ and completely isolate ourselves from the sufferings of the people around us.

  1. Inc spokeperson and activist should stop Hindus perception that Congrees is parties of Muslims only that today INC sawing no interest in bhumipujan why it all order supreme court they should speak up about Rajeev action to solve matter and vibratly take part in bhumipujan
Anytime INC does a work BJP twist it to some sort of anti national or anti Hindu etc INC should not give any chance to BJP on this.

    1. The perception of the people is wrong on innumerable counts. Everything needs to be addressed and corrected. It is a sad fact that INC, its leaders, spokespersons, cadres all failed to spread truth while those working against Congress could spread all lies.
