Democracy has become a joke

Jokers

My blogs are getting too serious. Let me start with jokes here. BJP’s Mukul Roy quashes rumours of rejoining TMC and says he will fight for restoring democracy in Bengal. Privately, Shah may be laughing ‘Democracy? Yeh kya cheez hai Bhai’. Now Democracy itself has become a joke.

Mukul Roy could not find Democracy in TMC for so many years. Mamata was also searching for it till she quit Congress and found it in TMC. The trend never dies. Now some senior leaders started their search and research for democracy after growing with Congress for decades.

BJP is the last resort of all these political opportunists. Presently they have not opened gates. But seriously, it is not due to a shortage of funds or talents as they have enough jokers for the present. They do recruit if needed. They do not waste even if they can afford it.

Moreover, the superannuated leaders in Congress always find comfort in the company of old feathers of Congress block. They could share their common cause and concern for internal democracy, whether those leaders are within Congress or outside it like Sharad Pawar, Mamata.

NCP runs an old age home for superannuated Congress leaders. It is more of an assisted living even if in a stretcher. Pawar is very considerate to his comrades in Khadi. Garbage is not a problem. He helps Modi in Swachh Bharat. Their mission is the same. Versions are different.

Modi also changes his tone, tenor, tune of Swachh Bharat. Now he is washing his impurities with crocodile tears. Even that he could not do successfully as his tears also are impure. He is also cleaning Ganga with human bodies. Pure souls attained Mukti as per the RSS version.

Modi is so dynamic that he never wastes opportunities, whether it is Corona or ‘Maro-na’. He washes away all public resources and also private resources of all citizens impartially except few high profile individuals who are needed to run his party and its ‘public services’.

Pvt. Companies or Political parties?

BJP always searches for chief executives or opportunists on lifetime settlement plans from other parties in states where they could not find suitable jokers within. BJP is a closely held Private Company owned by the RSS family. It periodically appoints CEOs to widen its base.

The company builds platonic relationships with outsiders. Some clever and cunning associates steal copyrights to build their small islands. They start mimicking BJP company head Modi with advertisements in the media. They also distribute public funds for their survival.

But to be fair, ambition is not the sole privilege of old politicians, political families, and hate brigades. Like Modi/ RSS, Kejriwal also searches for CEOs, bureaucrats, actors with a ready image in all states. Aam Aadmi could not find Khas Aadmis. But he has a right to dream.

Congress still tries a version of democracy, a weak one to match its party. A typical example is that of the recent Kerala elections. The seniors got pumped up before the elections on steroids, but their chest burst after it. Still, they wanted to continue their hold on to power.

We have to understand these old veterans. They may die but their spirit and ambition for ‘public service’ never dies. Most of their old comrades are blind to the fact that every vehicle one travels, whether political or mechanical, has its life cycle of utility.

It is a mistake of Congress. I am reminded about a Hero Honda advertisement of the 1980s when the CD 100 motorcycle came with the punchline “Fill it. Shut it. Forget it”. Congress tends to delegate and forget in its version of democracy. Should it not refill and run for survival?

Proactive action is a serious business; it does not suit the free for all model of Congress. They say ‘see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil’. But serious self-analysis is part of the democratic process. That energy boost is to wait for its regaining health if it happens.
