Farmers issue – The play is on
There were references to the need for problem-solving mechanisms in my blog and tweets in the past. Now the time is opportune to discuss it as we have live examples to understand it better. Formation of a committee of experts on new farm laws is typical.
It is definitely a scientific tool for dispute resolution or the evolution of solutions for issues or problems. Those who form part of the mechanism should be considered trustworthy, impartial, dispassionate and openminded by the parties to the dispute. They are to be neutral.
The experts are to hold talks between the government and farmers union. The presumption here is when farmers are talking to the government, they will also talk to the committee. But they were only talking or reiterating their position, not negotiating with the government.
How will it be different now? Are they neutral? They are experts in the field and have their own theoretical, presumptive positions. It is reported that they are toeing the pro-government line. The big question is whether these experts will be part of the problem or solution.
A neutral person should recuse himself from the process if he has a committed position on issues concerned. Their role it seems is only to convince or clear doubts of farmers; to present what is right, wrong or acceptable to them. That too when farmers are not willing to talk.
Eventually, the committee of experts will only discuss with those pro-government unions and present ‘their expert views’. Basically, everyone will try to keep their hands clean from bloodshed if any. While associates search for fig leaves, the emperor is not bothered about it.
The reality is the emperor lives in his wonderland; sources magical solutions for all problems with a wave of hand out of nowhere; if his solutions fail every time, he will find new solutions for problems created from nowhere. He is selling people his arrogance as dynamism.
Our emperor is vested with the power to browbeat everyone one in the country with absolutely no exclusions except rare ones. His present project is to subjugate farmers.
These committees, experts are not problem-solving mechanisms but only silencing mechanisms and nothing more.
The endgame.
Modi sources problems even before the previous ones die out. He is in such a hurry to become unquestioned monarch before the people wake up from deep slumber, wipe their eyes, get out of their brain fag, unite and fight for their rights.
He is always on the offensive keeping everyone in the dark about his covert and deceitful plans; dumping them on people; suffocating and surprising them; giving little time to gather themselves and react. As usual, people are divided, fail to unite and support each other.
Even if they do, Modi & co are well versed in dividing people and silencing them exploiting their weaknesses and that of the system with a no holds barred approach that too aggressively. When those in power are so aggressive there is a natural tendency for all to become defensive.
The political system, parties stand destroyed, dismantled beyond recognition and redemption over the past several decades; divided into various groups, castes, religion, in addition to their economic and educational disparities. Modi got fertile ground for his divisive agenda.
They have already concentrated, confiscated, consolidated all stately powers to themselves to impose a unitary system and fascist, monopolist, dictatorial regime. But Modi/ Shah/ RSS agenda is going to remain a dream. Fascist regimes bound to fail. That is history.
Modi/ Shah are so much habituated with their unethical, unscrupulous and more often illegal methods and approach, they have become arrogant, overconfident and brutal. But that is the lifeline they have left for people to retrieve back what they last over years and decades.
People are getting all the more united. When they unite on issues which are of mutual concern with only the common enemy of an idiotic ruler and his gang, nothing is going to stop them. Their basic culture of love, compassion and coexistence is revealing itself in all its dimensions.
When people themselves become the driving force, the divisive forces, experts, policymakers, misguided politicians, bureaucrats and also courts will be running for their cover and life. Most of them will come to their senses. The process is on; gathering mass; will roll down soon.
