The opposition – Scope and hopes – Part Ⅴ – Farmers’ issue

Just divide, no rule

So BJP is playing its game with farmers issue. They are dividing, infiltrating, creating mayhem, registering cases, demoralising farmers observing no rules, laws, justice. This is very much normal for Modi/ Shah/ BJP/ RSS regime. Farmers are victimised.

Farmers adopted Gandhian path, were on satyagraha for more than 62 days. Perhaps they fell into the trap of BJP by holding a march in Delhi without being aware of the machinations, potential for infiltrations to damage their peaceful satyagraha movement. It is an unequal fight.

Modi & Co have all forces, power, law, bureaucrats at their disposal. Farmers only have their pains, heart, good intentions for the benefit of farmers and people. They are not fighting against the British, who observed some rules, laws; respected Gandhi and his potential.

Our present rulers have no respect for anything. When everything is under their control including courts, when they can do worse than what British did, is it not wise for farmers to accept support from all groups, parties and fight to the end to reestablish rule, law, justice?

All parties, groups should unite. Do not expect satans to observe morals and ethics. The cumulative sins of all politicians have come in the form of Modi/ Shah/ BJP/ RSS. They should now take pains to do the penance for their sins. Modi & Co will not give it on a platter.

Peaceful Gandhian satyagraha can still be effective against any regime. People are supportive of such protests for right causes. BJP also protested on public issues. How can they deny others? But no one cannot stand alone & fight for their causes against the unresponsive regime.

Terrorising people

The fascism of the Modi regime is the main issue. That is the root cause for most of the problems created by it. They generated fear psychosis and phobia amongst people by unethical, uncontrolled misuse of authority and power systematically exploiting every weakness people and system.

One may say how everyone has gone spineless. It is unreasonable to expect most of them to withstand individually even if organised into a group to fight for their just demands. Those in government service, bureaucrats, judges are aware of the unjust ways of this regime.

One cannot expect them to forego their economic interests, survival instincts against potential threats from unruly regime. Further, they are not strong enough, limited by rules and conditions to embark on a futile exercise, jeopardising their livelihood and peace of mind.

Everyone waits for change or Divine intervention to protect them from ‘saffron-clad’ satans. But when it affects a section of society they do cry out of pain and agony. Now it happened with farmers. They are expected to forego their economic interests. Why should they suffer?

Their demands emanated out of their sufferings over the years. Farmers protest with a simple, straightforward, honest, genuine approach in an organised, peaceful Satyagraha in Gandhian path. This may not suffice to counter fascists, with their power and crude mindset.

People are lonely; cannot raise voice individually, effectively. No one can save, help, protect individuals or groups if they stand divided on issues, without a broader unity against a fascist regime, the root cause of most of the issues confronting various sections of society.

No one can wait indefinitely for a Mahatma to come and lead. It is not that we are devoid of Mahatmas amidst us. But our competitive spirit for power and greed see even selfless souls as a threat to our existence and drown them to irrelevance. So we are to go for alternatives.

Instead of searching for purity of persons to lead, we should adopt the purity of process and potential for its success. Rahul and Congress have extended their support to farmers’ issue. All should take initiative to unite and fight against fascists, the source of all issues.

They should not stop fighting against fascists but extend this as forcefully with those who are supporting them like media, bureaucrats and confront issues in court whenever possible. It is not to hurt them as many may be innocent victims but to draw them to do lawful duties.

For deliberate acts of terrorising people, preaching sermons to those who sponsor it, is not going to help. A united, nonviolent, movement is needed. Violence is not an answer to any issue. Even for self-defence, it should be avoided in the interest of larger issue involved.
