Our Democracy and its Destruction – Part Ⅱ

The Mindset

I planned to continue my above blog from part Ⅰ along the lines of the potential, possibilities, path ahead and so on. But the reaction and comments for Part-Ⅰ of my blog lead me to write about the present Subtitle, ‘The Mindset’. A mention made on Twitter was about ‘How about constructive suggestions rather than damning negativity.’

My response to this comment forms part of this blog. Further comments, reactions, and responses are welcome on this topic. Nothing is complete and comprehensive in conversations, discussions or, for that matter, even after analysis, the evolution of solutions and delivery of judgements. Nothing is perfect and final, as they are part of the evolutionary process, which changes with time.

Now, we shift to the query ‘How about constructive suggestions rather than damning negativity’ and my response.

You are absolutely right on target. But the following points are to be noted.

  • Analysis of the past and present is essential.
  • Many are not aware of where exactly we are now.
  • The fight is against a secretive organisation.
  • They are powerful by misusing their power.
  • They have no ethics or morals in achieving their objective.
  • They will go to any extent to achieve their objective.
  • They do not care about subjugation, suspension and abrogation of the rights of the people and the hurts they are causing them.

There is a need to bring in positivity, clarity and direction. But there are limitations to using Social media.

  • The opposition stands divided.
  • Its leaders are opportunistic and selfish.
  • They suffer from past misdeeds.
  • They are unable to bring clarity, positivity and hope to the people.
  • Naturally, this confusion is reflected in Social media.
  • The voice of the opposition in Social media varies in all dimensions.
  • Every piece of information, idea and solution may appear to be logical. But may not be realistic, practical and workable.
  • But most of them reflect their desperation and pain.
  • When leaders and activists are confused, the truth or positivity does not reach people. They are perplexed and disappointed.

What is possible?

  • Small, organised, disciplined groups should emerge to give meaningful direction to discussion to bring out the truth and solutions and present them to the public.
  • It is not easy considering the independent mindsets of liberals, but it is possible and necessary.
  • When the mischief makers are doing it with organised WhatsApp groups, the opposition groups must do it to present what is right.
  • There are many other ways to do it. The scope is unlimited to improve or change the current approach. But patience, perseverance and focus are required to adopt the courageous path to pursue what is right and true.
