Role of Congress, Rahul

Rahul is good in giving short, sharp and pointed messages in his tweets, speeches, press conferences. Many of party spokespersons are analytical; can expose lies totally. But their message does not reach the people. Spreading truth is needed for Congress revival and to fight fascism.

Congress, its supporters blame it all to the blackouts, distortions, contortions by the ‘paid or afraid media’. This is only partially true. They are only puppets of masters who do the tricks, tactics and twisting needed to defeat Congress. It will not change. Then what next?

Does Congress use all the communication tools, channels available? Mere presence does not mean full utilisation of its potential. Congress supporters, sympathisers are present all over the country. Does it mean that they are channelised and used? They are wasting opportunities.

Congress is like a Maharaja who lost most of his territories and still gifting space to its enemy voluntarily.  Congress is operating at its minimum. It is weak in many areas. Potential is unlimited in terms of talent, the scope for its deployment. It is just scratching the surface.

As a political party, Congress cannot cite constraints. It is more due to hesitations, self-doubts or waiting for an opportune time to break out and initiate actions. This is so when BJP is aggressive without any positives except their ability to misuse power unscrupulously.

The characteristic passive approach hurts Congress the most. Delay and inactions set the degradation of its strength, demolition of its structure sending a negative perception around. It becomes difficult to erase them. They are to spare a lot of efforts, time, energy to rebuild.

There are many arterial blocks, artificial barriers within Congress. What is the purpose of giving undue importance to seniority, juniority when what counts is whether the information, ideas, issues before them stands the test of truth and sense? Origin and source are immaterial.

Free flow of information, ideas from all quarters should be allowed. Frank discussions, some admissions, initiatives, bold moves, changes in approach are needed. Such positive actions will inject dynamism, good vibes among cadres, leaders, supporters and will change its image.

Debate, discussions are part of our ancient culture. We do submit to logic and reasoning. That was part of Congress culture till a few decades back. Some may say it is still there. But such occasions, occurrences are limited, muted, mutated by various complexities, complexes.

Role of opposition

Monologues and imposing one-sided, biased, divisive ideologies and views are part of RSS and fascist culture. That is because they will get exposed if questioned on logic and reasoning. It is the reason they avoid constructive debate in parliament, press conferences and media.

They do not want the truth to emerge. They try all options. They try to choke, suffocate, mutate making it unrecognisable; spread so much nonsense around so that truth becomes unsearchable. Now it is not a question of a surfeit of nonsense but the survival of sense, its virtual obliteration and extinction.

The opposition parties need to counter this. But that is telling the obvious. They are responsible for the emergence of these fascists in politics. They cannot leave it to the people after presenting their side. They should pull out, destroy the roots of fascists from this soil.

Every lie, untruth is to be countered and pegged down. Even truth and exposure of lies need active propaganda, spreading and explosion. It will be a true vaccine against the virus spread by Modi/ BJP/ RSS. People are to be inoculated to protect them from its various variants.

There is a ray of hope amidst all negativities that are floating around. Our people are still wedded to secular democracy, peaceful coexistence and equality. They are aware of what is true and right. But they are susceptible to BJP/ RSS lies and are not yet ‘virus-proof’.

The typical example for our people’s resolve and determination is the farmers’ issue and the positive response for it. It is a fight between people vs fascism. The opposition parties have played very little role in it. But people cannot be expected to organise, fight every time.

The political parties and groups should take the lead to fight and expose lies, spread the truth. They are to pursue, persevere and ensure that the message is carried across till the end. Congress and Rahul with his no-nonsense approach have a big role to perform in this.
